Center Twp. Fire Dept. #2, 108 Grandview Avenue, Center Twp.

That’s right!  We are having another Night at the Races event and we hope that you will attend.  We are excited to holding our Night at the Races fundraiser at the Center Twp. Fire Department #2. This is located behind the Center Township Eat’n’ Park restaurant; below Lowes, across the road from Walmarts and McDonalds.    As with our last event, proceeds will go towards tax payments.

For almost 50 years, DiMattia Swimming Pool has provided many families with a safe recreation area.  Every year members volunteer their time and talent to maintain the area.  Every year operating costs increase and the taxes never disappear.  Every year we are faced with challenges to maintain our swimming pool.  The challenges are never insurmountable but they could be without your help.  Shortly tickets will be mailed to you, please purchase them AND and attend! Bring your friends and neighbors and come to see others and perhaps win some money!  Bring someone who might be interested in joining.  For certain, you will have an enjoyable evening.

If you are unable to attend this event, please help us to meet the fiscal challenges of the pool by sending a donation of $30 to The Daniel DiMattia Memorial Recreational Center P.O. Box 1213, Aliquippa, PA  15001.  This is another way for you to contribute as a volunteer.  If you would like to purchase more tickets contact Marian Vendemia, NATR Chairman, at 724-728-6928.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to defray operating costs,

Night at the Races Committee

Last push to get ready for Memorial

Day Opening!

I plan on going over there Sunday about 9:30 to start hosing down and tidy up the bathrooms and breeze way if any one wants to join me.

Jamie Lorich did most of the kitchen. I think the only thing left there is the inside of the freezer (tall or agile would work best for that) and washing down the walls.

Anthony and his kids made a major dent in the grass, weeding thing. Although there is still some grass to rake up at the bottom.

Even if you can't help clean tomorrow, if you could stop by to donate some cleaning supplies, toilet paper or first aide supplies that would be great.

The kitchen could use brillo pads, scrubbing sponges, degreaser, dish soap and paper towels.

The bathrooms could use sanitary clearer, Lysol spray, toilet paper, surface cleaner.

The first aide kit could use.... everything. :D

Any help or supplies you could donate to get the pool ready to open Monday would be most appreciated.... and mention of such will of course go up on our community bulletin board. :D

Anthony said the pool should be done filling tonight, so I know I plan on taking shorts or my suit to cool off when I am done.

Later

Sponsored by the
Daniel DiMattia Memorial Recreation Center
All Proceeds to benefit the 50th Anniversary Restoration Project

March 15, 2010

Dear Neighbor,

We would like to invite you to visit the Daniel DiMattia Recreation Center , aka, DiMattia Pool.   We are located on Angela Drive in the DiMattia Plan section of Aliquippa . Some of you receiving this letter may not know we exist or maybe you think we closed many years ago. In fact our pool is almost 50 years old and going strong. We are in the process of planning our 50th Anniversary Celebration in the summer of 2011.

Currently, we are accepting applications for new members.  Our facility is the largest member owned pool in the area.  It is a clean, safe place for you, your children, and grandchildren to relax and enjoy the summer.  It has been a long winter and this is the perfect place to spend those long, hot summer days.  It’s a great place to get to know your neighbors or to get away from it all and just relax poolside.  Put those video games away and let the kids outside to get some exercise and socialize with friends.  We are family oriented and have many activities such as family days and our annual luau.

In addition, we are seeking “Charter Members” of the pool to help us celebrate the anniversary.  We are interested in hearing your stories and seeing pictures you may have tucked away somewhere in your house.  If you or someone you know were a charter member of the pool, please contact us by stopping by and asking for one of the board members.  We want to relive those memories of the early days with you.

We are planning an “Open House” weekend at the pool.  If we have sparked your interest or you would like more information, please click on the Contact Us button on the left.

Opening day is planned for Memorial Day, May 31, 2010.

March 6, 2010

Dear DiMattia Pool Member,

Thank you for being a vital part of the DiMattia Swimming Pool community.  Soon we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the swimming pool.  Can you remember those early days?  The times you spent lounging around the pool, enjoying the company of other members, watching the swim teams compete with other local teams, and ice-skating in the winter?  Many memories have been created there for many members of our community.  We would like to hear of some of your favorite stories or see some of the pictures you might have to share.

We are preparing for the upcoming 2010 season so that we can continue to provide a place where you can meet your neighbors for a swim or a chat, where your children can find a safe place for recreation, where you can bring your grandchildren and show them off to us, where you can just escape to relax and cool off, and where you can host a family gathering, or party.

The membership drive has begun.  Your stated membership dues are based on the schedule below.  If your family status has changed, reply by sending a letter describing your current family situation.  Your membership fee is due upon receipt of this statement.

2009

2008

Won’t Be Long Now! - The snow is gone (we think), and global warming is starting to take hold of our summer months. Preparations for a Memorial Day weekend opening are already under way. There’s lots of good news to talk about - so let’s get started.

Website - An exciting new feature this year is the DiMattia Pool website. The site is still under construction but accessible. Go to www.dimattiapool.com for details. We plan to post calendar of events, membership information, rules and regulations, monthly updates, party and rental information, and much more. Take a moment to check it out....

Opening Day - Weather permitting, we’re shooting for a Saturday, May 24th opening. The Board is in the process of establishing dates for the Luau, Family Days, Teen Parties, Adult Parties, and a whole bunch more. Keep that website in mind for updates and event information. Lather up the sunscreen. Summer is on it’s way!
New Members - You will also find a copy of the application enclosed with your invoice. We encourage you to help us find new members as membership accounts for 70% of our annual budget.

Grounds - The Board has approved Budget Cuts Lawn Service to professionally maintain the pool and surrounding area. Budget Cuts is family owned and operated serving the Beaver County area & Moon Twp. Services offered include Residential Commercial mowing, trimming, fall/spring cleanup, leaf cleanup, shrub maintenance, mulching, and much more. Phone number 724-417-0766. Paul Flati - owner.

Pool Manager - The Board also approved reinstating the Pool Manager position. It’s been several years since we’ve had a full-time manager on-duty. This is a very positive step to ensure adult supervision is available during normal business hours. The manager’s duties include serving as primary contact for the PA Department of Health, Aliquippa Health Officer, DDMRC members, and life guards. Please look for more information regarding the manager’s position on our website.

2007

For the first time since Joe Cogan was a rookie cop, DDMRC is in “the black” financially. Through a ton of nifty maneuvers and the patience of sticking to our business plan, we finished last year with a little money in the bank. Over the past 3 years, the Board has chipped away at old debt accumulated over the years. It had become habit to pay last year’s bills with this year’s money. We committed to breaking that cycle no matter how painful. The result - all 2007 bills paid with 2007 money. We start fresh with a healthy budget and bright future.
